The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced that food and supplements containing CBD will have to be registered by March 2021 or they could be removed from sale next year. This is a significant development for the industry and the dedicated Cannabis Law team at Mackrell.Solicitors will be working with the industry to ensure they get the answers they require.

In 2018 the Constitutional Court – South Africa’s highest court – unanimously ruled to decriminalise the private possession, consumption and cultivation of cannabis. The government has until September 2020 to bring legislation on cannabis in line with the constitution.

CDFA’s cannabis appellation-related regulations were finally released on February 20, 2020, and at first glance it appears CDFA has a deep understanding of the critical importance of this program to cannabis farmers throughout the state. Here’s a quick overview:

After a significant outcry by the hemp community, the USDA is backing down from its requirement that all hemp be tested at DEA-registered labs for the 2020 season. 

On January 1st, two new marijuana laws went into effect in Colorado. The first was House Bill 1234, which allows for the commercial delivery of medical marijuana.

We were prompted to write this note by the article “Cannabis Regulation: The Struggle of Small Farmers,” written by Lance Griffin and published on February 21, 2020, in Terpenes and Testing Magazine. We were prompted to write this article not for what Lance Griffin’s article says but for what it does not say.

In what has been a landmark week for the Australian cannabis industry; with three specific projects being granted ‘Major Project Status’, one claiming to be worth $350 million[1] and the other two are stating $140m and $160m. It raises the question of where all of the cannabis products will go, and how these projects will create profitability for shareholders. Afterall, the Australian market is still relatively small and medicinal cannabis products are not yet covered by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).

Georgia is a complicated state. Guns are widespread legally. Public schools in plenty of districts are widely avoided by changing neighborhoods or coughing up the funds for private education. The lottery provides an enormous amount of the state income, and marijuana caused arrests in past years rank in the top three of the nation. But the beliefs of lawmakers are not echoed through the state’s population.
