Prince Lobel: Applications for the 4th Cohort of the Cannabis Control Commission’s Social Equity Program (SEP) will be open starting February 5.

The SEP is a “comprehensive, statewide initiative offering free technical assistance and training to individuals seeking entry into Massachusetts’ legal cannabis industry.” This program aims to provide sustainable pathways for those most impacted by the War on Drugs. Once approved, participants become eligible for various benefits, including (1) expedited licensing review, (2) specific fee waivers and Metric payment waivers, (3) exclusive access to delivery and social consumption licenses for up to a minimum of three years, as well as a pre-certification application that offers applicants a preliminary application process that certifies their propensity to run a business, (4) free technical assistance, (5) training through vendors certified by the Commission and more.1

Upon the Commission’s approval of an application, the SEP Participant is invited to attend an orientation for their cohort. Based on the interests indicated during the application process, participants are placed in one of four tracks: (1) Entrepreneur, (2) Core, (3) Entry, or (4) Ancillary.

For more information about these recent developments, the Social Equity program and the evolving Massachusetts space, please contact Mike RossJohn Bradley, or any other member of the Prince Lobel Cannabis Team.
